2. Power consumption

The C600 has a power consumption of 185 W running typical workloads. The maximum power consumption expected by the C600 card using a pathological test case is 252 W but this will never be seen for real production workloads.

The maximum power of the card is capped at a default value of 192 W. This can be configured in 12 W steps between 132 W and 252 W, allowing the C600 cards to be deployed into servers or racks with limited power or cooling budgets. There may be a performance impact when the power is limited – the point at which this occurs is application dependant. Power capping is done over a 20 ms measurement average.

The C600 card can draw in excess of the power capping limit for short peak bursts. The maximum current for these bursts is 42 A on the 12 V input supplies measured over a 1 ms timescale. The power capping limit measured over 20 ms will be respected.

The idle power of the C600 card is less than 20 W.
